Topdressing a lawn
What is the best type of compost to use when topdressing a lawn in autumn to mix with sharp sand and a little grass seed.

If you are making your own top dressing, it is better to use topsoil or loam based compost to mix with your sand. Don't use multi-purpose compost. The texture should be fine and not lumpy. You can use a sieve to make sure.
OH who is the "Lawn expert" here, suggests loam based compost is the best thing to use.
I usually just use MPC and then a stiff yard brush to sweep it across and "into" the lawn. Use five times more than you think...
