Caryopteris in Pot
in Plants
hello
i planted what i think is a caryopteris in a pot earlier this year and now I am not sure what to do with it. Ideally I want to plant it in a border but not sure when and how to do this. Is it th right time now and should I cut it right back before I do so?
Many thanks

You can plant them into the borders if your soil is quite free draining. These shrubs do not like heavy damp soil. They also need an area that has plenty of sunshine. If you have these conditions now, then you should plant them in. If you are busy, delaying it till spring next year is fine too.
If your soil is not ideal, either work in plenty of grit to open up the soil structure so you can plant them in or leave them in the pot. You can cut down any straggly bits now but not essential, as you can do that in early spring next year. Just make sure the base of the pot is not sitting in cold wet conditions.
