Cherry Laurel

Hi

I can't decide whether to pay the extra for pot grown or is bare root a good option?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I had it sorted until I found two companies operating with different names are both using the same telephone operators giving different quotes.  I also found the planting advice varied a lot.  Some companies  stressing the need to plant 3 to 5 a metre.  I am now totally confused.  I would just like some proper genuine advice.

Many thanks

3 to a metre is good, 5 would be much to close. They grow thick quickly if you keep them trimmed,

I bought mine from hedgedirect. Best to buy them at 60 cms, bare roots, pick out the tops on planting, stand back and wait till Spring, then sprinkle some bonemeal around if you want to, I didn’t, mine are now huge.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Thank you Lyn. Really helpful.
