Would like to know what this is, some sort of wildflower I assume. I have the nagging feeling I (should) actually know it.

It looks a bit like Stokesia Laevis, Stokes Aster.

  • Thanks Borderline - but this plant's flowers don't seem to have that star-shaped flower head. I'll add another picture, perhaps it helps.

there are a lot of leaves in there that don't go with flowers. I think that's an Echium.

One of the annual Echium vulgare varieties, 'Blue Bedder' maybe

Think Nutcutlet is right there. Definitely looking like an Echium of some sort.

  • Thanks nutcutlet! I've had that in the garden, in very small numbers, I think you are right. For some reason I thought Blue Bedder looked quite different -- this could mean there's another type of plant that I mistook for Blue Bedder. I wlll go out and have a look tomorrow to check whether there's no end to my confusion. The other leaves are helleborus foetidus.
