Joyce, just noticed a post I thought had gone had not. As if your daughter hasn't had enough to cope with! I do hope she is ok and has help tomorrow for when the dust settles
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
LP and Dinah, the insurance co. gave permission for a tree surgeon He has already removed the branches fro the conservatory roof and will see to the rest tomorrow.
Daughter unable to do anything as she is hobbling around using a zimmer.
Oh dear. ...sorry to see the damage. Hope not much more done as the storm travels further. Luckily I am quite sheltered and escaped with no damage or power outage.
Oh dear Joyce, tell her not to try do anything, it's always a terrible temptation to try to move that little thing, or this little bit, and then make yourself worse in the process. I hope you will all feel better when the man has been to finish the clear up.
Lilly, I think the wind is definitely dropping with no sign of hitting the high speeds forecast. Good luck anyway.
I hope the storm is passing and no one here has had any more damage. I have friends in County Sligo, I hope their house is OK, they are here in Dordogne on holiday at the moment.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I think well done everyone. Those of us who keep our hearts outside in the garden get stressed enough without these things. Those of you who lost precious plants and trees - my sincere commiserations.
I'm ready for the autumn tidy up, if I can get out there, it's still a bit cold and windy.
We were very lucky. Wind no stronger than a normal autumn blow. Regarding the origins of the sand and sky colour, the information came from the Met Office, not the BBC. Yes we get sand blown in most years but I've never seen a sky colour like yesterday.

That's good to hear LilyP
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Uprooted a tree in the hedgerow. Fortunately it fell away from the Summer House. Chain saw out tomorrow. We are having the day off today.
