I noticed that my pansies were not doing too well. When I inspected the basket there were hundreds of microscropic white insects. Any suggestions

My best guess in the absence of a photo of the problem would be "whitefly".
'microscopic'? Are they invisible without optical aid?? Kitty2 is most likely correct in diagnosing Whitefly, and they should be immediately apparent ; they can be easily dispersed with a soap-based solution applied by hand sprayer .
