Suggestions please for what I can plant in this corner. South facing with thin dry soil. Something shrubby with bright leaves that I could keep pruned to the height of the fence would probably be best. Flowers not important, but would be a bonus.
Choisya Ternata is a great choice for fragrance alone. The more finer leaf version Choisya Dewitteana 'Aztec Pearl' is just as good if you want a less dense looking shrub. Flowering twice in a year and responds well to pruning.
If you have the free draining soil and the sun, you could try Bupleurum Fruticosum, a really nice dry garden looking plant that looks so natural against your stone entrance. Evergreen blue/grey foliage and masses of lime green flowers lasting up to autumn. A tough plant in dry and windy conditions.
Thanks for all these suggestions, I think a choysia sundance gets it, but all your suggestions are so interesting that I might get some of the others for other parts of the garden :-)

The shrub that came to mind for me was Sacococca confusa ( sweetbox ) it’s evergreen, fragrance is wonderful and it can be pruned.
