Unless you really need the room, I would leave them where they are for now. Slugs love to munch on lupins and can always sniff out newly planted things, probably because the foliage gets slightly bruised. The larger they are before they face that assault the better, providing they aren't being attacked already. Move them in March or April, as they start into growth, and they will have time to settle before flowering.
