Identifying Some Mushrooms

imageimageHi can anyone tell me what type of mushrooms these are I saw today.Something has been eating them, what eats mushrooms in  gardens woods?

    Can't really tell ... But lots of things eat fungi, from slugs and snails to rodents and other mammals large and small.

  • Difficult to identify but as a general rule of thumb, white mushrooms with white gills are best left alone as many are poisonous.  As for what has been eating them, it is probably slugs which love most mushrooms and eat them with impunity as they are not affected by the toxins.  Personally, I'm always delighted when I see fungi of any type (except Honey fungus!) growing in my garden. image

  • Yes Bob I love Fungi too, think they are fascinating and so many different colours and shapes, have seen loads this year. These were under friends shrub and we couldn't find them in her book!
