Trailing geraniums
I have lots of trailing geraniums which I would like to keep over winter. Do I need to cut them back -some are trailing as long as 2 ft. I have a cold GH so could keep them in pots on the dry side but what's everyone's thoughts on the old way of drying the plants off and hanging somewhere frost free?

I assume you really mean pelargoniums not geraniums? Depending where you live, (I am in the SE fairly near the sea so sheltered mine are still outside) then yes, cut them back, remove any flower buds/flowers, cold greenhouse, I check them they dont get watered On really frosty nights I also chuck a bit of buble wrap or fleece over them., then spring, they are cut hard back, watered, brought outside on warm days, then Easter I pot up my baskets, pots, new compost, they come out in the day to aclimatise, then out finnaly end of May.You may also try a few cuttings from none flowering tops, as a back up.
