I have to be honest, photographing the acorns like that will make it almost impossible to find out the type of oak. Even leaf shape is hard enough. Is this planted on a public road? If yes, you may be able to find out through the local council. I know they should be keeping records. Some even put maps out on the internet for those interested.
Agree with Borderline...virtually impossible to id from a single acorn.
Even autumn leaves found under the tree would help with id.
Try to find an acorn still in the cup...that would also help.
