Hi, I've just taken on an allotment and have inherited a gooseberry bush with grass growing through the middle of it. How can I get rid of it (the grass not the bush!)

Afraid it's wait for a dry day, lie on your tum and reach under the prickly branches and handweed. The alpine-type strawberries keep spreading under my gooseberry bushes and I have to do the same
