Good luck with them Stephanie - the Gunnera and Fatsia are nice big statement plants, and great foliage on them.

Although the Eucalyptus can get huge, they're nice when given a hard prune each year as you get the best of the foliage colour  image

    Hostafan1 says:

With container grown plants,so long as the ground is frozen solid, or waterlogged, you can pretty much plant at any time of year.

As raisingirl suggests, some , more tender plants, might need a little TLC over the winter.

Think Hosta's made a typo there ... I'm sure he meant to say so long as the ground isn't frozen solid

Oh, I don't know. I'm quite the fan of using my pick to clear a bit of permafrost to pop a teeny plant into!

  • Anyone know the plant mentioned on Friday's GW ... Philictrum ??

    Looks beautiful

And can I buy it at this time of year?

From your guess Jo - I'm going to say Thalictrum?

You might struggle to get it in GCs just now, depending on their stock, but you'll get loads of nurseries online who may have it.

If that's the right plant pf course!
