London Fields, I like the play on words: been/bean. I can never make bean soup for my family without provoking a chorus of "If it's been soup, what is it now?"
Where I am I doubt they would mature might be why they are not widely grown, I have tried borlotto beans thrice and they only mature if we get a very hot (for us) summer BUT I also found that runner bean seeds (scarlet emperor) do mature consistantly and taste really good, better than the borlotto beans in my opinion. I also had some french beans I tried the seeds of, but they were truely vile, kind of slimy when boiled. Broad beans (hangdown and aguadulce) are interesting as well, very mealy and sticky great for making vegan dishes as they hold together without needing any eggs, but the skins are tough and have to be removed one by one.
