Hydrangea rooted in water

My endless summer hydrangea has been rooting and still in bloom for about 10 weeks, now. It is still in water on our screened in porch, in zone 8, in shade.
My question is whether to pot it in soil, now and put it in our garage for the winter or just leave it in the water and pot it up in the spring. Or should I plant it directly in the ground now or in a p
ot in the ground?

It needs potting up so the roots can grow into soil later on. Remove the flower head first so you don't risk stressing the plant while it gets accustomed to its new home.
