I am so inspired by everyone's transformations.... I had 5 huge leandii to tackle, and a huge heap of rubble from the house renovations, but this year I put my raised beds in and for the first time in my life and started growing!
Thank you raisin girl, its been A LOT of work and graft...just me and my very good neighbour best friend (girl power)!!!
I started square foot gardening (as it helped me plan as I'm such a newbie) but that sort of went out the window.... some things grew very large (cabbages), but it was quite effective for carrots, parsnips and smaller bits!
I know what you mean Paul, sometimes I think our gardens are far too manicured and designed. What a lovely picture of you in the long grass - so natural looking and less work but your garden is interesting now too.
A most interesting thread. I find it extremely encouraging to document the progress made in one's garden. Here's my contribution, more about my garden history at http://www.rezeau.org/wp-garden/en/the-garden-history/

NGG - wow - that looks amazing. Are you square foot gardening?
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”

Well done NGG. You aren't a newbie anymore!
Plus 20 years

Though I quite liked it when it was all long grass. Sometimes I'd like to roll it all back and start again.

Ha. it's not me I'm afraid, it's one of my sons. He is 24 today. Time flies by.
