Thank you so much for all your replies...the exact one is Anenome Hupehensis Habdsen Abundance it will be pale pink. It seems they mainly spread their roots so that's why I thought a pot. I'm sure it would be happier in the ground but don't want to regret introducing something invasive?
Ann - another way of doing it is to put it in the ground with a physical barrier round it if you're worried about it spreading and running. It won't stop seeding, but that would be the same in a pot anyway.
I also have Whirlwind - it makes about three feet if I'm lucky, and is a smallish, well behaved clump with a few seedlings which I've transplanted. Thay have also been well behaved, despite it being a bigger border. Climate and conditions
