Wet weather gear - recommendations?

Hi all,

For those who persist with gardening for extended periods (maybe professionally) in the rain, do you have any recommendations for waterproof coat and trousers?  Do you tend to wear something made of PVC, rubber, or otherwise a breathable synthetic fabric e.g. Gore-Tex?  Is yachting, fishing or mountaineering/hiking gear the best?  Any brands you can recommend?  Is it best to spend a bit of money, or just get throwaway/cheap stuff?

Many thanks in advance,

JT

I use the stuff i bought for hillwalking. I found that some of the cheaper stuff stood up to wet weather just as well as the dearer stuff. Example - pair of waterproof trousers out of lidl/aldi bought for tuppence halfpenny lasted me for years,,,,,,,,,,,,,I bought waterproof jackets from a stack em high, sell them cheap store and they lasted for years as well.

Up to you really as to how much you spend.

    And a sou'wester.

In that case you are excused the sou'wester.  Mine is bright yellow and a happy hat.  I don't know why, but wearing it always makes me want to grin.
