Acer

New to gardening 

I have an Acer that produced buds in spring but didn’t produce leaves.

any ideas on what’s happened and I’m fearing the worse

    if it produced no leaves all year I think it must be dead. Can you upload a photo?

    Acers need a lot of moisture, especially during late summer, as that affects the foliage production the following year - a bit like buds on various spring flowering shrubs.  The most likely reason is a it being too dry at the most important time. 

    Have you a photo you can upload, or more info you can offer? Size, location. potted or in the ground. If in the ground, what else is round about it etc. That will help with advice image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
