  • Looks like privet flowers to me.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Is it twining itself through your hedge? If it is it could possibly be Russian Vine.image

Could it be Russian Vine? (Is it a climber spreading into your hedge from a neighbour?) [Edit - cross posted with Fritillary]

"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
  • It looked like it was sort of growing out of the hedge around or out of branches its quite a tall hedge the red stem worried me although i cant see any bamboo like structure i would associate with knotweed sorry i am a gardening newbie been in meltdown since i found it image

  • Thanks everyone was ready for a breakdown earlier but feeling much better had visions of bamboo shoots growing through my floors bit dramatic maybe image

Any tips for taking care of the vine? It's the newest strangling plant to join my list of plants that have killed my hedge had a massive ivy problem last year never seen so much completely took over my hedge dealt with that now we have this image very very glad it's not knotweed tho

Definately not Japanese knotweed.  It looks rather like a prostrate lilac but probably Russian Vine.
