Late blight & Composting

in Fruit & veg
My outdoor tomatoes have succumbed to a little bit of late blight. The stems have started to blacken and some of the unripe fruit is also becoming affected.
I've saved the good fruit for ripening indoors.
Do I have to burn the plants or can I safely add them to the compost heap?

Thanks Scroggin, I suspected that would be the case. I hate having to burn stuff but i guess that's the way of it.
