Possibly a Brown tail moth ... don't handle as the hairs can be very irritating.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Blimey, just read about them. Add that to the giant hogweed and conclude that this little haven of mine is not so idyllic after all!!
