Small tree for clay

Can anyone recommend a small (?) tree for waterlogged clay soil?

  • How small is small?  Alder glutinosa is happy on wet clay ... but it can grow quite big ... although it is very happy coppiced.  

    Great for wildlife image


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.





  • Amelanchier does well in wet clay.
