Good tree to screen a streetlight

  • Thanks for all the replies. I have emailed the council concerning a shield so just waiting for their reply. The lights don't appear to be dimmed in the early hours and they are quite dazzling to the sides which are in line with the windows upstairs.

How dense is the canopy of the eucalyptus...just wondering if I could end up with a strobe effect if I'm not careful.

Many thanks to everyone for their time...

    The strobe effect yes!

    this is what you'll buy

and this is what you'll get, but by the time it reaches a street light you'll probably be used to it.

I would suggest either buying curtains and then buy black material to make liners or buy one of these.

The eucalyptus worked well for us. Slightly dappled light, but now dark rooms rather than lit. The council allegedly came out and assessed the need to install a back cover, deciding that there was no impact on us ? so we went with the tree. We’ve had the top chopped off, but that’s the only pruning in 3 or so years.

  • That looks rather nice.  I have asked the council to look at fitting a shield. I haven't heard back yet.  Do you get a strobe effect though in windy weather?

  • Not that we’ve noticed!
