Gorgeous Fuchsia problem

Kathy43Kathy43 Posts: 116

Hi all

Ive had a fuchsia, which is beautiful. I bring it in over winter, but its pot bound now, and I'm in 2 minds whether to chance it in the ground.

I have taken cuttings off its its not the end of the world if it doesn't survive the winter.

Is there any way I can tell if its hardy?

its very woody, and trailing, rather than my other bushy types, that are hardy

  • You could have a look through the catalogue at a specialist fuchsia nursery like Lockyers and see if you can find a match. There are a lot of very similar looking ones though!

  • Why not put it in the ground next spring and then leave it there?  That'll give your cuttings chance to take and guarantees you at least one flowering season in the ground if it goes down over winter.

Sound advice from Bob but is there any reason your can't just re-pot it next spring?

    See original post

     It's huge,i don't have a pot big enough! I've raised the bed,so it trails,so technically it's in the ground,but off the ground,if that sounds right !.

Let's see what happens next spring!
