Dividing geraniums

I have just divided two large clumps of geranium and replanted smaller clumps.  Should I cut back the foliage now or wait until they have rooted or the foliage dies off naturally?  Some of the stems are quite long - 18 - 24 in.

    I cut it back.  Less stress on the plants as they try and re-establish their roots.
