Front garden inspiration

Hi All,

My front garden is lacking a bit of colour. As you can see, it's a terrace house with a rather uninspiring concrete front garden. Now I don't want to have to do serious work on it - certainly no pulling up the concrete.

Does anybody have any ideas about how to make the garden more green? And pretty?

The garden faces the North East, so it's a pretty shaded garden, and I'm on quite an open, busy road, so a bit of pollution. It's been difficult to find any plants that can withstand those conditions. I'd prefer evergreen/perennials if possible.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

No photo, I'm afraid. But big containers with ferns and hardy geraniums come to mind, maybe Hydrangea paniculata in pots.
