Does anyone know what this is?

I found a skinny tree down on the side of the road and these two growing out of the bark here in Florida. I figured I would try to grow them. They were small maybe 2-3 inches when I found them. Now they are 6-10 acrossed.  I'd like to know what they are so I can plant them in the appropriate place. (I don't want a tree growing out of my roof if it's a tree). Any help would be appreciated

Well, there MAY be someone on here who can help you because some are very knowledgeable, but it is a British site so you may need to search for something nearer to you for identification. Good luck!

    Hello Maria100

I think you've acquired some of the commonly grown sub-tropical epiphytic bromeliad Billbergia piramidilis .

The clue was you stating that you found it growing from the bark of a tree ! Should produce a striking red flower spike at a later stage .
