What fruit is this?

Can anybody identify this fruit? The bush/tree that it is growing from has thorns on it.

They are not ripe when green. Looks like your ones are the ones that go reddish when mature. Some go yellow. Boil them, to then make into jelly or jam. Too bitter uncooked.
