Can you Compost Conifer trimmimngs ?

I'm a very novice gardener but I'm hoping to learn. Most people who reply on here seem very helpful ....... so here goes. I've recently bought a house which has a variety of several large conifers and a long leylandii boundary hedge. If I shred all the clippings and pruning ..... can they be composted ?? Be gentle, LOL !!!!

Yes. If they have been shredded, mix them up with grass cuttings (beg off neighbours if you have to. ) You may need to do a double mix. Ie mix the shreddings with an equal quantity of grass cuttings. Let it heat up and cool down.  The pile will shrink in size. Then mix the pile up with another equal quantity of grass cuttings.  Conifer shreddings take longer to compost than softer stuff like elder or buddleja, but it makes a good mulch for under shrubs when you have done.
