  • That's very impressive, I've not looked all through the thread yet, but what variety is it and is it still going in 2023? Do you leave it outside all year?
  • It's such an old thread...can't imagine an answer will be forthcoming

  • @someblokecalleddaveo0XkpY4z - not sure if the variety - just a standard bougainvillea & no sadly I lost it winter 2022, along with a lot of other plants 🙁
  • @amancalledgeorge you just never know if someone will answer 😊

Its quite remarkable that you kept it going for another 5 years after your original post. Well done you! I'm propagating a cutting at the moment which i intend to plant in the far corner of my greenhouse as an experiment...if i can get 5+ years out of it before any trouble i'll be very happy!
  • @McRazz i should have kept it covered for the winter - I thought it was hardy enough — I’m gutted I lost it - good luck with yours 🤞

  • @groucher - thanks for the info, no I didn’t protect it & it lasted until winter 2022 when I lost a lot of other plants - I thought it was hardy enough - it was pruned lightly once a year, fed with miracle grow.
I plan to try again this year & protect it this time - I’ve been told on another forum once they reach 5-6 years old they will survive the cold winters but that’s when in the ground not pots

Your welcome Millymolly2012 my ones have been a bit all over the place this year with the unpredictable weather.  My "Gloucester Royale" is such a vigorous one that on the advice of the nursery bought it from I pruned it back hard and it came back well.  I feed my on Vitax 301 first for the leaves then Vitax 111 when the bracts appear.  mine are in an unheated conservatory.  Good luck with your next one.
