It looks like a form of leylandii which can be prone to a type of mite which turns them brown. Have they been without water at all early spring/summer?

Thank you for the reply. I have no knowledge of plants. I should try find a suitable insecticide? No never watered it until recently (due to brown parts over last 2 months) never had a problem with this hedge since I moved there in 2004. I cut it carefully again cut too much it goes brown again. Mark.
