Poorly Roses

Hi to everyone.  When we moved to our current cottage in 2016 the garden was literally obliterated by long grass and weeds.  After a while we uncovered some beautiful roses and set to work rescuing them.  This is the first time that I have had a significant number of roses and I'm struggling with rust, blackspot and, this year especially, powdery mildew.  Nothing off the shelves from the garden centre has even touched the problems and I now have a lot of potentially beautiful but very sickly roses.  Does anyone have some rose rescue remedies?

I've given up with roses for the very same reasons, doesn't matter what I do, the problems are always there at some time of the year.  'they' do say that roses prefer polluted air and that pure country air doesn't suit, maybe they don't like my acid soil, whatever the reason, they're going this winter.

  • I'm very tempted to get rid of them - I must admit.  I know that there are many other beautiful flowers out there that don't cause half as much trouble!  However, someone must have loved these very much at one time so I am going to persevere.  Nevertheless, they look pretty grim at the moment.  I'm going to try what Patsy F has suggested (thank you!) and use some liquid seaweed.
