Plants and raised bed covered in cement

Hello,

Our garden backs onto the side of our neighbour's house and we have a raised bed that is directly against their wall.

They have just had their brickwork redone and quite a lot of cement has fallen onto our plants and soi and during this process, a clematis, wisteria and a small crab apple tree had their supporting wire removed in a way which meant that they were collapsed on themselves for several  days. I've put the wires back up and washed off the clumps of concrete from the branches but here is a lot of cement now in the bed.

My plan is to try and dig out as much of the cement as I can around the plants and replace with compost. I am wonder if there is anything else I can do? The bigger plants that weren't trampled completely all seem still to be doing OK for now. Is if possible to predict how li they are to survive in the long-term or anything I can do to save them

id be very grateful for any advice

All you can do is remove as much of the crud as you can, replenish compost and water well.   Then cross your fingers.

I would also let the neighbour know that you are not happy about the damage their workmen have done to your garden.

  • Thank you very much for all your answers. I will do my best this weekend to replace the soil as well as I can.

We have already had quite a row about this with neighbours!
