Is this JAPANESE KNOTWEED
I'd be very grateful if anyone can confirm that this plant is NOT Japanese Knotweed. Even better would be to know what it is.
Thanks

NOT known as Japanese knotweed. You can relax.
Hi powderworks. It is NOT Japanese knot weed. It is Leycesteria formosa or Himalayan honeysuckle - a nice shrub to have.

Thank you everyone !
The dreadful thought was inspired by my father-in-law who pointed to it as he was returning home earlier today !
Again, many thanks,
Paul
You are very welcome Paul.
to me himalayan honeysuckle is about as welcome in the garden as japenese knotweed.
give it a chance and it will take over the garden.
I love it, the birds love it, the bees love it.
It's welcome in mine.
It self-seeds freely but so do lots of things. Wheek 'em out!
