Clematis stopped flowering

Why has my large flowered clematis not flowered this year?  I only had one bloom.

    Possibly you pruned it at the wrong time wendyen.

    Thanks.  When is the best time to prune summer flowering clematis?

    They should be pruned in Spring, back to a pair of fat healthy buds and removing any really spindly growth.
