Box Hedge - can it be saved

Hi there.

We have recently moved into a house and have inherited a lovely, well kept garden. We were however advised by the previous owners that the low level box hedging, some 10meters of it, had been plagued by box tree caterpillar which is why it had begun to look bare and twiggy and they were unsure if It would start to recover.

Since moving in we have continued  to remove the catapillars by hand and using a bug spray as well as feeding the roots with a  seaweed dilution.

A large section of the hedge is mostly bare now as you can see in the photos and my question is whether the hedge has gone beyond saving and am I wasting my time or could it in fact come back to life so long as I control the bug fest?

Any  advice would be much appreciated.

Joe

It's your garden, and therefore your choice if it's worth the effort.

To me, it seems to be between a path and a fence, and , as such doesn't seem to have any point. It's not doing what hedges normally do: provide privacy, define borders, separate areas from each other. etc.

Maybe it's just a trick of the photo, but I'd not fight to save it.
