Something's eating my apple tree

So I bought this apple tree in the winter and planted it in the garden for the kids. Incredibly it has produced three beautiful apples. Lucy is eating one off the tree I type????  Probably would have produced another 3 if Zachary (1) hadn't pulled off some more!

it seems to have some fungus. I'm not a gardener (although his year I did plant three raspberry bushes and 12 strawberry plants along with said apple tree) to show the kids not all food comes in plastic wrapping.

I guess I need someone to tell me what to do about this, as you can see it seems to have eaten quite a bit of the bark. Is it recoverable, what should I do,

any help appreciated.

Peter

  • That is very quick for a tree to be so badly affected image Did you get it from a reputable nursery/garden centre? If so Id email them with the photo and label. If I were them I'd be happy to give you a replacement.

Good luck and has been said - don't let it put you off image

  • It was a good garden centre. I'll drop it into them And see if they will replace. When is the best time to actually plant an apple tree. I really am a newbie:)
