euonymus alatus. Spindle.
I agree with Hostafan1. I got a bit of a fright when I first notices the stems, thinking it was some sort of insect damage.
Well having googled it, Spindle is supposed to have stunning leaf colour and red berries. I didn't notice that last year, but fingers crissed
