Swede
in Fruit & veg
Can Swede still grow when the leaves have totally been eaten away by Caterpillars? All I am left with are the leaf veins, the Caterpillars have completely devoured the flesh off leaves.
Wondering what to do now, do I dig them up even though not fully grown or finished developing & throw away or leave them in?

I would put a net over them and leave them a few weeks and see what happens, I have had the same thing happen to my kale I forgot to put fleece or a net on them I might try and net them and see what happens.Next year I will spray around the area with a garlic spray to see if that will deter them,I will also try that with my carrots and parsnips to see if it will stop carrot root fly. P S are you sure its caterpillars and not pigeons,or is it both.

Thank you. It deffinately caterpillar as they're all fleeing from my veg plot, across the patio & climbing the walls of our house haha , but could also be pigeons as we do get them in the garden too.
I wil give the fleece a go & leave them in for another month perhaps but now realise too that it a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted! Never mind a lesson learnt. I will be prepared next yr
