Weird Green Sand / Soil / Clay
Hey All,
I'm in the process of removing some paving slabs in order to lay down turf at the bottom of a sloped garden. For some reason there are large patches of a sandy green clay soil like substance. Have attached some photos, has anyone any idea what this stuff could be?
Thanks in advance
Chris

What dreadful looking soil. I don't envy you that.
This might be what you are looking at depending on where you live. "Greensand" Is an actual geological description" (From wikipeadia. )
"Greensand a greenish kind of sandstone, often loosely consolidated.a stratum largely composed of greensand, deposited during the Cretaceous period and often underlying chalk.noun:
Greensand; noun: the Greensand "the Upper Greensand"

'You must have some bread with it me duck!'
Thanks both for the reply
Reading that Wikipedia page leads me to believe it is that greensand stuff...doesnt sound to bad. Think I'll bite the bullet though and buy a lot of top soil before laying any turf.
Thanks again
Chris
