CAN I save my tomatoes?

good morning everyone,
i have four tomatoes plants with a good number of green tomatoes (a couple beginning to colour up), however due to our horrendous weather recently the actual plants have died back to the point the remaining leaves are either brown and crispy or covered in mildew depending on the plant.
i assume i can't save the plants, but can I still save the tomatoes? Should I leave them on the vine or take them off and try to ripen off the plant?
thanks for your suggestions.

I would pick them and bring them indoors and place them on a warm windowsill or similar place ... that's what I do in those circumstances and most of them ripen.
Ones that stubbornly remain green get turned into chutney.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks I'll do that and good idea about the chutney too. Off to chop down the tomatoe plants.....
It is warmth that is most important for ripening. If you put them in a paper bag with a Banana the acetylene gas given off by the Banana will hasten ripening.
