Not at all Granny.   Profiles help us answer questions about problems given that location, weather and soil make such a difference to the plants that can be grown and how well they will do but if that info is neither in the post nor the profile we get stuck.

Yes, nut, you do have a profile at http://www.gardenersworld.com/members/nutcutlet/99858/

    it says:

That'll do PJ, I thought it might have disappeared in the refit image

I hadn't looked at my profile until Mike asked the question.  I obviously provided quite a bit of information when I joined, but none of that shows in the profile anyway.  The profile on here does seem to be next to useless.

I disagree that a profile can't be useful.  Knowing the type of soil somebody is on, their rough geographical location (South coast or North of Scotland), etc. can be relevant to the answer.  There are many other factors which could be included in a profile without making the member 'at risk'.

Some of your posts sound drunken, Mike...late night with poor spelling and punctuation.  Just my opinion, as you asked.

I suspect Mike is using a program that converts speech to text. That makes it sound odd. Some people can't spell, others can't type. I don't see many other people being castigated for it.

I wasn't castigating him particularly for spelling and grammar, more for sounding drunk. He did ask.

Some of the comments here are getting close to being personal attacks in my opinion.  Don't worry fidget, it's not possible to live up to some people's expectations/standards of perfection.

So Mike, I ask again, what would be in your profile?

I sometimes find profiles useful, I look at them from time to time.

Mike used to have a profile but it seems to have disappeared, maybe when the new format of the forum came in.

Mike, I agree with some others that your grammar and punctuation are a bit strange. It doesn't flow and makes you seem abrupt which can make people get the wrong end of the stick. A lot of your sentences aren't really sentences. It's a shame because I don't think you are really like the way your posts come over. I know you loved your wife very much and she died, Valerie, I think. I think people are fierce with you because of your style of writing and sometimes I think you like to provoke because you like to get a response.
