Pyrocanthus dying ?

image

My well established, 15 + years, Pyrocanthus was absolutely covered in the most vivid orange berries, up until last week. Now the berries are shrivelling up and falling as are the leaves. Can anybody throw any light on the issue ?
Many thanks in anticipation.

  • Look up pyracantha scab, from which I think your plant is suffering. Clean it all up, remove all fallen leaves and the fruit then hope. It may well come back ok in spring. Cold weather stops the fungus but next year it'll attack again, so good hygiene and keeping it well fed and watered will help.

Thanks for that. Just looked it up on the RHS site and your diagnosis seems spot on. I'll put some of their recommendations into motion tomorrow and see what happens next year.
