Identification of plants

Hi, could anyone tell me what the following plants are:

picture 1 quite spiky main plant has fallen forwards and other shoots sprouting from this and pop up elsewhere around it

picture 2 is a piece broken off of main plant, which is very poorly, shown in picture 3, which also appear to have another plant growing through it, with cream edge leaves

Are the leaves on no 3 slightly downy? It might be pittosporum but there isn't a lot to seeimage

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Picture 2, is the same plant as picture 3, but the new growth on 3 seems to be coming up greener. I would say it is only slightly downy. From what I can remember of it when it flowered it was small white flowers. Can you see the two different leaves in picture 3? I'll look up what you suggest.

Pic 3 looks to me like a variegated Dogwood , but as B3 says "not a lot to see" !!

Pic 2 could also be Dogwood ; Cornus 'Prairie fire'????

Pic 1 could be juvenile Berberis shoots ; can't ID which though .

  • Thank you both for your replies. I'll look them up.

PS    Small white flowers could well be Cornus (Dogwood) .image

Picture 1 looks like Gaultheria Mucronata, the Prickly Heath.

Borderline is probably correct ; Gaultheria (Pernettya) mucronata ; acid lovers ; you have to 'multi-plant' to have any chance of a good show of berries .
