Corizus hyoscyami
Its common name is Cinnamon bug. It's a sap sucker so you make your own choice as to friend or foe... personally, I only dispatch bugs/insects if they're overwhelming a desirable plant. Live and let live seems to me to be a sensible approach. I leave aphid-infested plants for a few days before washing them off or squashing them, to give the local blue tits time to clear them for me. They often do.
Many thanks everyone. I have only seen one so will leave alone. So long as they are not as devastating as the lily beetle that suddenly appeared and had laid eggs and the grubs hatched and had a feast before I took action. I now take immediate action if I see one - I do like my lilies.
I'm not sure if these are monarch eggs hatching or aphids
