Ant nests all over lawn
I don't usually bother much with the ants on the lawn, we do get a green woodpecker sometimes so I usually leave them alone. However today I have counted nearly 20 piles of soil all over the lawn & its all ant activity. The "lawn" is not that big slightly under 80 sq yds. I use Nippon gel for ants that are too near/ in the house.
What would others do?

I encourage wild predators to forage & water the area with ant nests, they like dry soil so will soon move on. It does seem a particularly bad year for them though..

Water them generously ... they'll move on ... make sure you water your pots and containers too so they don't move in there.

Thanks I will give it a try but I am not optimistic as I had Ants in one of my potted plants & even flooding & draining repeatedly did not work. I had to resort to the gel.
We have loads of hard ant mounds all over the front lawn. My dad's at a loss about what to do. He gets really annoyed when mowing the lawn. I read somewhere you can pour vinegar on them but I'm not sure if it harms them. Apparently it doesn't harm the lawn. Never tried it.
Vinegar is acetic acid ... I don't like the thought of pouring acid onto living creatures ... let alone all those important micro-bugs in the soil

I know there is a nematode you can use this does not kill them but apparently they will not tolerate them near the nest so they move. My issue is I don't want to drive them off the grass & into the house!
Dove I agree some of these old remedies are worse than the modern chemicals we are all trying to avoid!
