Hedge is starting to die

Need your insigh. We have a large backyard lined by a hedge. The hedge has started to die. Cut back the hedge last year. For most the cutting added new life but in a few spots no growth was seen. This has been the areas that will later die. the only visible signs would be spider webs. Any ideas? Not sure what the hedge is?

Tricky to advise without a pic, or at least knowing what kind of hedge you have Rick. Other factors can be useful too - aspect, soil, local climate, surrounding planting etc.

These can all affect the growing conditions and will help with advice. image
