Any idea what is causing this?

This first picture is a leaf on one of my dahlias. It looks dreadful, as I have quite a few and they all have this on. Any idea what could be causing this??

The second picture is of a primula leaf. I don't know if it's the same thing that's affecting it. Looks quite similar?

Thanks, everyone :)

Primulas, in particular, need moist soil. Have the plants been very dry? Watering is best done at the roots of the plants too, to avoid splashing leaves if it's sunny. That can cause a bit of surface damage to foliage.

I'd just remove the dead and damaged leaves, and have a look at the soil. Poke a finger in and see if it's moist enough. I see the primula is in a pot, so it can be harder to keep them moist.

If you have a lot of mature plants in one area, they could be struggling to get enough moisture. Dahlias have a lot of foliage, and if they're a bit crowded together, they're can also be a lack of air flow round the plants which encourages mildew and moulds etc.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
