Our abundant and usually delicious plum tree is diseased this year. Nearly every plum has small black insects inside when we open them up. The bark of the tree has a white marking on it too. I know we have lost the crop for this year, but please help me to prepare for next year and avoid this happening again. Thank you for any suggestions and advice.

Use plum moth pheromone traps in Spring. That helps cut down a lot of the plum moth larvae that are eating your plums.
Pick up all diseased plum and bin or burn them, not in your compost heap.
Hang a few fat balls in the branches over winter. The tits searching among the branches remove a lot of insects.
Thank you for your advice. Will certainly do this for next year.....they are sweet delicious plums so I look forward to next year's crop.
